Susanne
I have been working on Susanne for just over a year now. Through interviews, photographs, documents,
and family Super-8 footage, I have been investigating my mother’s struggle with mental illness, the ensuing
changes to her character, and ultimately the events leading up to her premature death in 1993. Along the way
I have learnt about a woman who has had a tremendous impact on my life and many others—a woman I
knew only for the first nine years of my life. The project will take the form of a documentary video, a limited
